I recently switched from Octopus Flexible and thought I’d share why, as I hadn’t really paid much attention to standing charges before. Hope this helps people, would love your thoughts☺️☺️
With Octopus, my gas rates were:
Standing charge: 32.83p/day
Unit rate: 8.55p/kWh
The Fuse tariff I switched to is:
Standing charge: 12.26p/day
Unit rate: 8.75p/kWh
So I’m paying slightly more per kWh for gas with Fuse (0.20p) but the standing charge is quite a bit lower about 20.6p less every day, which is roughly £75 a year just from the standing charge. Or the way I like to see it some free units 😂
Obviously it depends on your usage and what rates Fuse is offering in your area, so it’s worth checking the actual quote before switching. I just thought the standing charge difference was interesting and worth mentioning.
