I’ve been using Monzo for a while now and honestly, it’s the only bank that has made me feel simultaneously broke and in control. The app sends me instant notifications every time I spend money, which is great until I buy something dumb like a £6 smoothie and Monzo immediately hits me with “You’ve spent £186 this month on eating out.” Like okay, calm down Linda, I didn’t ask for a character assessment. The bright orange card is also impossible to lose unless you’re actively trying to banish it to another dimension. Splitting bills is super easy—no more awkward chats about who owes what for dinner or pretending you didn’t see the group chat. The “Pots” feature is basically a digital piggy bank that makes me feel responsible, even if I’m just naming them things like “Emergency Snacks” or “Stuff I Shouldn’t Buy.” It even rounds up your purchases and saves the extra change which somehow makes me feel rich for having 73p I didn’t know about. The budgeting tools are great too, though I mostly ignore them and cry at the end of the month. Monzo is basically a financial life coach that texts you too much but somehow makes you better. 10/10 would recommend, even if it judges your spending harder than your mum does.
